Updating a meade 497 controller
What does the screen on the Autostar display after you do all of that? You put the Autostar on the ground, hold down "Enter" and "scroll down" (-yes to the right of the ?
Gavin ok Gavin, here the check result.- The handbox is connected to seriell COM1 directly, not via USB.- Pressing Enter and scroll down-keys.- Switching on the scope.- Releasing the Enter and scroll down-keys after 30 seconds, because nothing happend.- After several seconds 5 low beeps can be heard in the handbox and all segments of the display are light blinking grey (not red). )Holding them down you flick on the power switch on the scope and let go of the buttons on the Autostar.
No way to connect to the 497 handbox to perform the restore because ASU can not find the COM port. I think there should have been a warning or something.......................
Gavin OK mine was doing that on the display before I created the (new virtual) com port.ROM to version Build59the device is not operational. You put the Autostar on the ground, hold down "Enter" and "scroll down" (-yes to the right of the ?It is not possible to switch the device into the download mode (pressing keys Enter and scroll down right of the question mark key) to reinstall the previous firmware version. ) Holding them down you flick on the power switch on the scope and let go of the buttons on the Autostar. The Autostar controller is plugged into the telescope HBX socket as usual The serial to USB cable is plugged into the other socket on the Autostar and connected to the PC's USB just like a usual update The telescope is switched off.You might go into device manager and change the comm port setting in there. Then do the same in the program, had to fool it, but it will work!
